Maakiou estate coffee is a family owned enterprise which was planted in the 1920s. The current owners acquired it in 1974. The Name Maakiou is a combination of the initials of the Greek Couple that established the farm and kiou River.
The farm is located in Kiamumbi area, Kiambu sub county of Kiambu
County. This is the southern slopes of the Aberdare Ranges at an altitude of 1700 m asl.
We are in the outskirts of the city of Nairobi and easily accessible. The farm is served by the permanent Riara river that traverses
the farm and fill the dam during flood.
The planted coffee area is 138 ha predominantly SL variety with 5% Ruiru 11. SL variety is renowned for excellent cup quality. The farm also has dairy
and goats.
Our Products
Maakiou Coffee Estate produces coffee, livestock (cows, sheep and goats), dairy products, animal fodder as well as honey.
The estate also boasts of a dam and is home to several different wild animals, including monkeys.
